After it is screened to eliminate large suspended substances, the waste water enters the biological section of the plant with low organic load, for removal of the biodegradable substances and for nitrification. The nitric nitrogen, which can be legally produced in abundance, is denitrified simultaneously in the oxidization tank. Thanks to the low loads in the plant, the sludge produced is practically stabilized. The water and sludge mixture goes to the sedimentation basin where the solid particles are separated from the liquid. The final process is disinfection to eliminate any residual bacteria, coliform and streptococcus in particular.
